Another week, another round of Bracketology from ESPN and Joe Lunardi. This week, the college basketball bracketologist featured 6 SEC teams in his 68-team field, including Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Mizzou and Tennessee. Kentucky and Florida are both on the bubble as of now, according to Lunardi.

Below you can see the where each included SEC team is seeded:

  • Alabama – No. 1 seed (3 overall)
  • Tennessee – No. 2 seed (6 overall)
  • Arkansas – No. 3 3 seed (11 overall)
  • Missouri – No. 6 seed (23 overall)
  • Auburn – No. 8 seed (No. 29 overall)
  • Mississippi State – No. 10 seed (40 overall)

Things are not going well in Lexington right now. The Wildcats suffered a horrible loss to South Carolina, which was rated sub-200 according to KenPom and even lower per NET rankings. As of now, Kentucky simply does not have an NCAA Tournament resume.

Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas are comfortably above the rest of the pack in the SEC right now. However, there is a long SEC slate ahead of us for outliers to make their case for the Big Dance.

Texas A&M and potentially LSU/Georgia (with big wins over Arkansas, Auburn respectively) are teams that come to mind as also having an outside shot as of the beginning of SEC play. Of course, they’ll need some more big wins to add to a group of lacking resumes.
