Joe Lunardi has updated his latest bracketology following Tuesday night’s results across college basketball.

One of the most consequential results was North Carolina’s shocking defeat to Wake Forest. The Tar Heels have now lost back-to-back games to Stanford and Wake in ACC play. The loss to the Cardinal is particularly damaging as that is currently classified as a Quad 3 loss.

However, UNC’s defeat to Wake Forest could prove to be costly as well. That’s currently logged as Quad 1 game — of which the Tar Heels have precious-few opportunities remaining to win. Things could change, but there are currently only 4 more Quad 1 games on Carolina’s regular season schedule.

As a result of UNC skid, the Tar Heels are now included in Lunardi’s “Last Four In” for the NCAA Tournament:

A total of 12 SEC teams are currently in Lunardi’s field of 68, which would set a new all-time record for any conference. That includes 2 SEC teams — Auburn and Alabama — who are slotted in as No. 1 seeds. Several more SEC teams — Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Ole Miss — earned top-4 seeds on Lunardi’s latest projection.

The ACC currently has 5 bids in Lunardi’s field of 68, but UNC and Pittsburgh remain on the bubble. SMU is currently listed amongst Lunardi’s “Next Four Out” as well.

Selection Sunday for the 2025 NCAA Tournament is set for March 16.
