Joe Lunardi released his first Bracketology projection on Tuesday morning as the college basketball season tips off.

The ESPN analyst projected 7 SEC teams will make the field of 68 teams in their pursuit to cut down the nets in New Orleans on April 4. Kentucky (3 seed), Alabama (4), Arkansas (4), Tennessee (5), Auburn (6), LSU (8) and Florida (10). Mississippi State was listed as the first team out.

Gonzaga, Kansas, UCLA and Michigan are the projected No. 1 seeds.

Lunardi wrote, “The top line gets a small tweak as the season begins, with Michigan regaining a No. 1 seed and Texas dropping to a No. 2. Another new 2-seed is defending champion Baylor, with Memphis sliding to a 3-seed. Among the at-large selections, Syracuse (comfortably!), St. John’s and Washington State are new to the field. Dropping out are Oklahoma State, which lost an appeal to have its one-year tournament ban overturned, along with Seton Hall and Iowa.”
