Juwan Howard is in hot water after a postgame altercation following a loss at Wisconsin.

Wisconsin administration is not happy with the Michigan coach, and has already spoken with the Big Ten office.

In his postgame press conference, though, Howard didn’t apologize for his actions. He tried to place the blame on Wisconsin coach Greg Gard:

Howard said he “felt the need to defend himself.” Anyone watching a replay of the incident would be hard-pressed to see anything that would trigger Howard’s fight or flight response.

On the other hand (pun intended), Howard’s open-fist punch of a Wisconsin assistant looked like something someone would need to defend himself against:

Howard was upset with a Wisconsin timeout in the final seconds of the game. But, Michigan was still doing a ful-court press. So, Howard can’t be upset about Wisconsin playing til the final buzzer if he’s still having his team pressing.

It was a terrible look for Howard and the Wolverines, and one that will likely cost him a few games on the sidelines, if not more.

We’ll see what Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren decides to do as far as a punishment, but expect the league to act quickly to deter this kind of behavior moving forward.
