The calendar has flipped, and on the first Saturday of 2023, basketball is in the SEC spotlight with all 14 teams taking on conference opponents.

All 14 SEC teams have played at least 1 conference contest already. Alabama and Tennessee are atop the standings at 2-0. Georgia, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt are all off to 1-0 starts.

No. 7 Alabama, the highest-ranked SEC squad, hosts Kentucky on Saturday. UK heads to Tuscaloosa with a 10-4 record, all 4 losses coming in games away from Rupp Arena. Nate Oats’ UA team is 7-0 at home and on a 3-game winning streak.

Mike White returns to Gainesville as the opposing coach. White’s Georgia team is 11-3 and 1-0 in conference play. Florida, White’s former team from 2015-2022, is 7-7 overall and 0-2 in SEC play.

No. 8 Tennessee looks to extend its 3-game winning streak at South Carolina. The Gamecocks are 7-7 and 0-1 in conference play, but 6-0 at home so far in 2022-23.

No. 13 Arkansas and No. 22 Auburn meet in the only ranked-vs-ranked SEC showdown of the day. The Razorbacks and Tigers each have double-digit wins but are both 1-1 to start SEC play.
