Less than 24 hours after Florida State fired Willie Taggart, odds are out about who might be in line to replace him.

Iowa State coach Matt Campbell, although with no ties to Florida State or the area in general, has the best odds at 3/1, according to online sportsbook BetOnline, while Kentucky coach Mark Stoops, a former FSU defensive coordinator, is listed at 4/1.

Penn State coach James Franklin, who recently was mentioned for the possible open Southern Cal job, was next in line, along with retired Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops both at 5/1. Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck and former Ohio State and Florida coach Urban Meyer are at 6/1, while Central Florida coach and former Missouri offensive coordinator Josh Heupel is 7/1.

Perhaps most surprising is former FSU coach and current Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher was listed at 15/1, which is surprising both because of his departure from Tallahassee, and his large guaranteed contract in College Station.

In his one-plus season at FSU, Taggart had a 9-11 overall record. Taggart led FSU to a 5-7 record last season and was 4-5 in Year 2 after losing to Miami. His 0-5 record against chief rivals was most alarming.

We should receive some clarity in the coming days as these coaches are asked about their connection to the opening.
