ACC quarterback planning to enter transfer portal, per report
Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos is set to enter the transfer portal after the 2024 season, according to a report.
That news comes from On3’s Pete Nakos. Castellanos has been Boston College’s starter all season, but was benched in the Eagles’ most recent win over Syracuse.
Earlier in the week, coach Bill O’Brien told reporters that Castellanos would be stepping away from the program for a “couple of days” in the wake of his benching. O’Brien also said Wednesday that Castellanos is not going to travel with the team to SMU this weekend.
This has been a somewhat-surprising development considering Castellanos’ on-field production for much of his time at BC. So far this season, he’s completed 61.5% of his passes for 1,366 yards, 18 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. However, he was benched after starting 2-for-7 for 14 yards and an interception against Syracuse.
Castellanos figures to be a highly-sought after name in the transfer portal this winter. While he hasn’t been efficient as a runner so far this season in O’Brien’s system, he did rush for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns last season for the Eagles.
Boston College is 5-4 heading into this weekend’s game against SMU.
