Injuries are an unfortunate part of football, but it’s especially difficult to see a player injured in a bowl game. In Monday’s Quick Lane Bowl, Bowling Green lost QB Matt McDonald after he took a hard, low shot out of bounds in the first half.

McDonald was out of bounds after picking up a first down when he took a shot to the lower body from New Mexico State safety Dylan Early.

McDonald left the game after the hit. Camden Orth has taken over at QB for Bowling Green. McDonald has been ruled out for the second half, according to the ESPN broadcast.

New Mexico State leads 14-0 after the first 2 quarters of play. Off the bench, Orth is 6-of-10 for 63 yards. NMSU’s Diego Pavia threw for 2 touchdowns in the first half.
