College football player dies after sudden collapse, university announces

Tragedy struck the Ouachita Baptist University (Arkansas) football team Sunday morning.

The University announced that defensive lineman Clark Yarbrough had collapsed suddenly Sunday morning and ultimately passed away.

The 6-1, 280-pounder was listed as a junior on the Ouachita Baptist roster and was a native of Rowlett, Texas. He had played in 11 games as a sophomore and recorded 27 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a quarterback hurry.

Yarborough was just 21 years old.

Details about what ultimately caused Yarborough’s death are unknown at this time.

Ouachita Baptist officials will be announcing updates about celebratory events as soon as possible.

The Division II Tigers were 1-0 on the season, having defeated Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday night, 42-32.

Yarborough recorded 2 tackles in the winning effort.
