The college football coaching carousel got a little bit smaller Saturday night.

Washington State, based on multiple reports, has decided to hire Jake Dickert as its new head coach.

Dickert had been named the Cougars interim head coach last month after Nick Rolovich was fired on October 18 for failing to comply with Washington’s vaccination mandate for all state employees.

Dickert led Washington State to a 3-2 record in the 5 games he coached, including a 40-13 victory over in-state rival Washington on Saturday.

The 38-year-old had joined the Cougars staff in 2020 as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

Washington State concluded its regular season at 7-5 and will now wait to see where it will be headed for a bowl game.
