As expected, ESPN’s “College GameDay” will usher in the Big Ten season with its next destination. The popular pregame show will be on hand for next week for Michigan at Minnesota. The teams are both ranked, and it’s a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC.

At the end of the summer, the Big Ten created loads of headlines with its initial postponement, and then rescheduling, of the season this year.

Less than five weeks after it initially said football would possibly move to the spring, and there was talk of playing games in domed stadiums around the Midwest, the conference reversed course and said it would begin on Oct. 24. Rapid testing and other improvements in medicine related to the coronavirus pandemic were the main reasons cited. The Pac-12 has also followed suit since the Big Ten changed its mind.

All 14 teams are scheduled to play eight regular-season games in eight weeks, plus have a chance to play a ninth game on Dec. 19 when the conference championship game is played.
