Cure Bowl ends with post-game slip 'n slide after slew of fumbles
The Cure Bowl was played in the middle of a Florida downpour that resulted in several miscues.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers got the best of the Miami (OH) Redhawks in extremely sloppy conditions. After the 13-9 win, the Mountaineers decided to enjoy the conditions, using the field like a slip ‘n slide.

Both teams made mistakes all afternoon. The game featured 13 fumbles, but somehow 8 of those 13 were recovered by the fumbling team. Both teams ended the game with 3 turnovers.
The Redhawks were driving to try to take the lead at the end of the game. With 2:39 minutes to go in regulation, running back Keyon Mozee fumbled and the ball was recovered by the Mountaineers’ Ronald Clarke. The Mountaineers then held on for the win.
The Mountaineers outgained the Redhawks by more than 150 total yards. Anderson Castle led the way on the ground for the Mountaineers, taking 20 carries for 119 yards. Kaedin Robinson was the leading receiver in the game with 8 catches for 118 yards.
The bowl win is the 3rd at App State for head coach Shawn Clark. Since returning to the FBS in 2014, the Mountaineers have won 7 bowl games.
