Deion Sanders issues statement on FSU coaching search; is reportedly working on assembling a staff
One name that has come up in rumors about the Florida State coaching job is Deion Sanders, who has never coached college football.
However, he’s an NFL and FSU legend, and there’s momentum building in Tallahassee for him to be hired.
On Saturday morning, though, Clay Travis tweeted that he spoke with Sanders, who told him no one from FSU has even reached out to him about the job:
Just contacted @DeionSanders about his interest in the FSU coaching job and he told me, “It’s hard to be a candidate when you haven’t even talked to anyone from your alma mater.”

That doesn’t seem to be stopping him from making calls to assistant coaches, though. Per Travis, Sanders has been working on assembling a top-tier staff:
The idea would be that @DeionSanders would serve as the CEO of FSU football and focus on bringing in top recruits, many of whom, like @DemorieTate have been Tweeting in support of the hire.

Will this actually happen? It would be crazy, right? Well, Florida State needs to do something to inject some life into a struggling program, so we’ll see what happens over the coming weeks.
