Deion Sanders, better known as Coach Prime, does not claim Florida State as his alma mater. One reporter in a recent press conference referred to him as a “Nole” since he attended and played out his college football career at Florida State, to which he had an objection.

“Do you know where I graduated from?” asked Sanders.

He reached out to another reporter in the audience who knew where he graduated from, which was an HBCU called Talladega State in which he transitioned from football star to graduate of his class back in August of 2020.

Sanders completed the FASTtrack program over the semester in that time block, a program designed for busy adults.

Nearly four decades ago, Sanders descended upon his football journey when he enrolled at Florida State. He played baseball and ran track, earning honors as a two-time consensus All-American and Jim Thorpe Award winner.

Sanders departed as a junior in the year of 1988, and was selected at No. 4 overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1989 NFL Draft. He has since gone on to begin a success college coaching career in which he led Jackson State to new heights and looks to do the same in his first year at the helm of the Colorado Buffaloes.
