Division I university announces name change, effective immediately

Houston Baptist University announced Wednesday that it would be changing its name after nearly 50 years. The school will go by Houston Christian University moving forward.
The Huskies will continue to use the Houston Baptist jerseys until new uniforms arrive.
Sources: Houston Baptist University will announce today the school has changed it’s name to Houston Christian University. HBU was originally known as Houston Baptist College in 1960 and changed its name to Houston Baptist University in 1974.
