Ed Reed will not be the head coach at Bethune-Cookman after all.

It was announced last month that Reed had accepted the head coaching job at the HBCU. However, on Saturday morning, Reed announced on Twitter that the contract had fallen through and that the school “won’t make good on the agreement we had in principle.”

Reed stated that the contract had “provisions and resources best needed to support the student-athletes,” and that it is “extremely disappointing” that the deal fell through.

The news comes after Reed publicly called out the staff at Bethune-Cookman and other HBCUs for having “broken mentalities” during a video on Tik Tok. Reed was critical of the leadership at HBCUs and said that he had done more in his short time at Bethune-Cookman than the current leadership had.

“I’ve been here for a week and a half and have done more than people that have been here in freaking years. And I’m not even hired yet. Damn shame,” said Reed.

It appears that now Reed will have to look for opportunities elsewhere. Several high-profile former NFL players have accepted coaching jobs recently, including Trent Dilfer and Eddie George.

“We won’t stop changing lives for the better, as we’ve done for over 20 years!” said Reed.
