Miami just suffered arguably the biggest opt-out loss of the college football offseason as redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Gregory Rousseau has made the decision to opt-out for the coming college football season.

Hurricane head coach Manny Diaz announced the news live during his latest media availability.

Rousseau is the reigning ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, was named First-Team All-ACC, Second-Team All-American and Freshman All-American after leading the ACC in sacks (15.5) and tackles for loss (19.5) despite the fact he only started seven games.

Considering he was set to enter the season as a redshirt sophomore, Rousseau’s playing career at Miami may have just come to an end as he will be eligible for the 2021 NFL Draft, should he desire to leave Miami early for the league.

Rousseau is the only Miami player, thus far, that has made the decision to opt-out according to Diaz.
