ESPN College Football senior writer Heather Dinich made an appearance on First Take on Friday to discuss the College Football Playoff.

As far as Dinich sees it, No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Ohio State appear like solid choices to make the final four. But she also believes that a couple of top teams will be left on the outside looking in.

“Well I think Michigan and TCU are 2 I would circle to answer that question,” Dinich said. “I say that because I think Ohio State is going to beat Michigan in the regular-season finale and I just don’t have confidence that TCU is going to run the table and finish undefeated.”

TCU (10-0, 7-0), currently ranked fourth in the College Football Playoff, has a road game at Baylor this Saturday and will close out its regular-season schedule at home against Iowa State. The Horned Frogs have already advanced to the Big 12 championship game.

Dinich also considers No. 6 LSU (8-2, 6-1) a live possibility to be the first 2-loss team to make the playoff if the Tigers can win out and then beat No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

No. 7 USC (9-1, 7-1) is also a possibility according to Dinich because the Trojans have one of the strongest schedules to close to season with games against three opponents (UCLA, Notre Dame, Pac-12 championship game) that will likely be ranked in the top 20.

“[USC] has a chance to impress the selection committee with three-straight wins against ranked opponents.”
