How Clemson made bettors angry after blowout win
For Clemson fans, watching the second half of the Tigers’ 49-0 win over The Citadel on Saturday was boring. For certain bettors, it was downright painful.
The oddsmakers in Las Vegas and elsewhere have a knack for setting lines that prove to be extremely close to the outcome on the field. They did it again on Saturday, but one could argue they don’t deserve any credit.
Clemson scored all 49 points in the first half. The betting lines for the game had Dabo Swinney’s squad as 50.5 favorites with the over/under set at 56.5 points. It’s expected that a team will let up in the second half, but a scoreless second half was absolutely brutal for bettors taking Clemson with the points and/or betting over 56.5.
Hope everyone took The Citadel and the under.
Good teams win, great teams cover. ✍️
The under (56.5) hits and The Citadel (+50.5) covers after Clemson fails to score a single point in the second half. 😵 pic.twitter.com/Ssyjgad4zs
