Kirk Herbstreit and the College GameDay crew are in Berkeley, California for the first time ever in Week 6.

The Cal Golden Bears are taking on No. 8 Miami in a conference matchup. Cal fans showed up in full force for GameDay, leading Pat McAfee to declare Berkeley “one of the best cities in America.”

Since they are on the West Coast this weekend, it was still dark outside when GameDay got started. That didn’t deter the capacity crowd, however, as McAfee said the fans began piling in at Midnight.

McAfee went on a rant about how impressed he was with the crowd and city.

“I am thankful to be here amongst these nerds, and future geniuses, and future people that are gonna run this place,” McAfee said. “It’s an honor to be in Berkeley, it’s foggy, I think there’s some skunks that died down the street, but this is awesome.”

Herbstreit had to step away to get a good laugh after those comments from McAfee.

McAfee went on to detail how all of the GameDay crew are from football towns, and Berkeley looks like a football town as well.

The crowd showed up, now it’s up to the team to show up.

The Bears have a tough task, as the top-10 Hurricanes have been on a roll. Cal already has a big win over Auburn, but nothing would compare to an upset of a top-10 team.

The Bears and Hurricanes will kick off at 10:30 p.m. ET.
