We have a new Power 5 opening just hours before the arrival of National Signing Day.

Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio just announced he has stepped down as head coach of the Spartans after 13 seasons in East Lansing.

The Spartans are coming off consecutive 7-6 seasons. During his 13 years with Michigan State, Dantonio had a 114-57 overall record. If you include his record dating back to his first three seasons as a head coach at Cincinnati, Dantonio finishes his college career with an overall head coaching record of 132-74.

Dantonio also finished with a 9-5 record against in-state rival Michigan.

During his time leading the Spartans, Dantonio won three Big Ten championships and won double-digit games on six different occasions. He won the 2013 Rose Bowl, the 2014 Cotton Bowl, the 2011 Outback Bowl and the 2017 Holiday Bowl with Michigan State. Dantonio led Michigan State to 11 bowl games, a number no other coach has reached with the program.

Dantonio issued the followed letter to all of his Michigan State supporters following the news.
