Matt Leinart and Mark Ingram broke down the current Heisman Trophy frontrunners during their “Club Heisman” segment on Saturday’s Big Noon Kickoff from South Bend.
Ingram highlighted a pair of quarterbacks – Oregon’s Bo Nix and Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. – that will go toe-to-toe as the Ducks face the Huskies in Seattle. He also brought up Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.
“He is a matchup nightmare. You put linebackers or safeties on him, you might as well cancel Christmas,” he said. “Brock Bowers is heating up. Straight-up mismatch, best tight end in the game.”
Leinart highlighted USC’s Caleb Williams with the Trojans set to take on Notre Dame on the road.
“He’s the best player in college football,” the former Trojans quarterback said, while predicting that Williams would have 4 or 5 touchdowns against Notre Dame. “He didn’t have his best performance last week [against Arizona] but he came up when it mattered most.”
