NCAA reportedly rules on postseason waiver requests from James Madison, others
NCAA postseason waivers for James Madison, Jacksonville State, and Tarleton State were struck down Wednesday, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
The NCAA’s rule says that teams who move from FCS to FBS must wait at least 2 seasons before being able to play in a bowl game.
There is still a chance for both James Madison and Jacksonville State to play in a bowl game if there’s not enough .500 teams.
Sources: The NCAA postseason waiver requests for James Madison, Jacksonville State and Tarleton State were rejected today. The NCAA Division I Board Administration Committee made the final decision, which echoed the conclusion of the three other committees that met on it.

The Dukes made the move to Division I last season and are undefeated. James Madison also applied for a postseason waiver earlier this spring. James Madison currently competes in the Sun Belt.
Jacksonville State is currently in its 1st season in the FBS.
The Gamecocks play in the C-USA with Sam Houston, who also made the move this year. Jacksonville State decided to file in case it clinches a spot in the conference championship game.
