One of the best traditions in college football, the Penn State “whiteout” in the stands, likely won’t be seen in 2020.

That’s the latest out of University Park, Pa., as Penn State announced on Thursday that Beaver Stadium will be empty this football season due to current state regulations.

Penn State issued the following statement to the program’s season ticket holders

“As of today, the current large group gatherings guidance from the Governor’s office limits capacity to 250 people for outside events and 25 people for inside events. Therefore, under the current conditions and current state orders, our fall sports events would be conducted without fans in the general seatings areas of our facilities.”

While there isn’t much good news there, at least Penn State is leaving the door open to these rules from the Governor’s office being amended by the time the season arrives in a few weeks.
