Power 5 commissioners have reacted to the news of the College Football Playoff delay of expansion until at least 2026 with similar statements.
Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren told ESPN that the conference supports expansion of the Playoff, and that the group will be able to collectively address unresolved matters and move forward for the greater good of college football.
Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff referred to working together for a more inclusive and balanced Playoff format.
Meanwhile, Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby called it kicking the can down the road, and was disappointed that expansion won’t happen sooner.
B1G commish Kevin Warren told ESPN “to be very clear, the Big Ten supports expansion of the college football playoff system … I trust that we will continue to collectively address the unresolved matters and move forward with expansion for the greater good of college football.”

Notre Dame Athletics Director Jack Swarbrick also weighed in on the news, and said people in the long term operated against their broader self-interest.
Swarbrick: “I think people in the long term operated against their broader self-interest. That’s always an odd circumstance and it is frustrating. The things that got in the way were things that were important to people. … Everybody has their own view.”
