Referee in Florida State-Georgia Tech game gives us early candidate for penalty call of the year
Every now and then, the center forgets the snap count. That can look awkward on TV broadcasts when the quarterback gives the cadence and literally everyone moves but the center.
Well, that’s exactly what happened in Saturday’s Florida State-Georgia Tech game. Sometimes, that penalty will be called as “false start, everybody but the center.”
As you can see below, in Saturday’s game, the referee decided simply to call out the entire offensive line for jumping:

So far, penalties haven’t hurt the Seminoles too much. They hold a 10-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets just before halftime. The game was delayed by storms in the area.
Coming out in the second half, we’ll see if the center remembers the snap counts a little better.
