Sonny Dykes was ejected from TCU’s game vs. SMU after receiving a pair of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties early in the 3rd quarter.
Things haven’t been going well for the Horned Frogs, who trailed 41-21 at halftime. That’s part of the reason Dykes was fired up, with what he perceived as poor officiating leading to back-to-back unsportsmanlike calls against him.
Dykes, the SMU head coach from 2018-2021 before heading to Fort Worth for the TCU job, was booed off the field by Mustangs fans at Gerald L. Ford Stadium. As you can see below, Dykes responded in kind:
Sonny Dykes with an all-time heel turn!
Picks up two unsportsmanlike conducts in a row chirping the officials, gets ejected and then fist pumps his former school’s crowd.

TCU is a long way from its 2022 season, when it advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. The Horned Frogs followed that up with a 5-7 campaign in 2023 and could be looking at a 2-2 start to the 2024 season. TCU has one the past two games of the Iron Skillet series but that looks to be in serious jeopardy.
TCU’s next game is at Kansas in Week 5.
