Western Kentucky has done the highly, highly improbable.

The Hilltoppers downed Old Dominion Monday evening 38-35 to win the Famous Toastery bowl. But that’s not the incredible part. Western Kentucky needed a 28-point comeback across the final 3 quarters of the game and a 21-point comeback across the final 20 minutes of the game to emerge with the win.

Here’s the game-winning 29-yard field goal attempt:

The comeback was led by quarterback Caden Veltkamp, who threw for 383 yards with 5 touchdowns and just 1 interception. His 5 touchdowns all came in the final 3 quarters of the game. He completed 40 of his 52 passing attempts during that stretch.

Dalvin Smith did most of the work on the receiving end, at least in the end zone. He finished with 9 receptions for 77 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tennessee transfer Jimmy Holiday led the way in receiving yards with 4 receptions for 99 yards.

Western Kentucky finishes its season 8-5 following its win over the Monarchs.
