Paul Finebaum called out as ‘turncoat’ for Deion Sanders take by ‘Mad Dog’ Russo
Paul Finebaum doesn’t often get roasted by his fellow ESPN analysts, so Wednesday morning was a unique moment for the longtime college football analyst who is paid to give his instant reactions to different topics in the sport.
Finebaum was the target of Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, who was upset that Finebaum was suddenly praising Colorado head coach Deion Sanders after the Buffaloes won their 3rd straight game with last Saturday’s road win over UCF to suddenly improve to 4-1 on the season.
“Did I hear this week that Stephen A. (Smith) and now Finebaum, that turncoat, they’re gonna sit there and tell me … that Deion Sanders is the coach of the year in college football?” said or, more like, screamed Russo.
Not too long ago in 2024, Coach Prime wasn’t having much fun, as his Colorado team took it on the chin in a 28-10 loss at Nebraska in Week 2. But not even a month later, the Buffaloes are riding high going into a bye week and now Finebaum has switched his stance on Sanders.
“Colorado is the team of the year so far in college football? And Finebaum, who should know better, jumping on the bandwagon,” screamed Russo, who went on to say that he believes Tennessee’s Josh Heupel is the coach of the year so far in college football.
