Shedeur Sanders and Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi shared an awkward moment after their head-to-head matchup on Saturday night.

Following Colorado’s 28-9 win, Fowler-Nicolosi approached Sanders to take hands after the game. But instead of reciprocating, Sanders pulled back, smiled and referenced something Fowler-Nicolosi said earlier in the week.

Here’s video of the interaction:

Sanders was presumably frustrated with something Fowler-Nicolosi said regarding last year’s meeting between these 2 programs. Colorado was a heavy favorite in the game, but ended up needing double overtime to get the win in 2023.

“They came out with that attitude and thought it was going to be a cake walk,” he said. “They saw the reports, 27.5 points or whatever it was. And they got a rude, rude awakening real quick. And I think it goes to show that the hype, the media train, it only gets you so far at the end of the day. You have to line up 11 guys against our 11 guys and we’ll find out who wants it more. We’ll see how far Instagram followers gets them.”

Fowler-Nicolosi’s comments did not age well, as he threw 2 interceptions in the loss. On the other side, Sanders threw for 310 yards and 4 touchdowns in what was Colorado’s most dominant victory in over a year.

Colorado will host Baylor in Week 4.
