Another Michigan standout announces he will sit out Peach Bowl against Florida
Florida won’t exactly facing the best Michigan has to offer in the Peach Bowl.
On Thursday, Wolverines senior running back Karan Higdon announced on Instagram that he won’t play in the bowl game as he prepares for the NFL draft. He joins junior standouts Devin Bush and Rashan Gary as Michigan players who won’t take the field against the Gators on Dec. 29 in Atlanta.

While Bush and Gary’s decisions to sit out were injury-related, it appears Higdon is simply trying to avoid one and fully turning his attention to the NFL. The 5-foot-10, 202-pound Higdon is the No. 7 Wolverines’ leading rusher with 1,178 yards and 10 touchdowns on 224 carries, though he wasn’t used much in the passing game.
This all bodes well for the No. 10 Gators, who can reach 10 wins under first-year coach Dan Mullen in a prestigious New Year’s Six bowl. Florida opened as a touchdown underdog, but we’ll see if the line shrinks now that Michigan is down several key players.
