Anthony Richardson eyeing Jalen Hurts-like ascension with new Colts HC Shane Steichen
Anthony Richardson spoke at his debut presser after being selected at No. 4 overall by the Indianapolis Colts. Richardson is excited to work with first year HC Shane Steichen.
Steichen coached the likes of Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts as the offensive coordinator in the city of brotherly love. Richardson was impressed with how Steichen developed Hurts and is hoping for the same.
“We all saw the things he did with Jalen Hurts,” said Richardson. “He told me we can do similar things.”

➡️ He hit it off with Steichen during his visit here a few weeks back (and lost to the coach in bowling, he’s still salty about it). “We all saw what he did with Jalen Hurts,” AR said. “He told me we can do similar things.”

Richardson accounted for 2,549 yards passing, 654 yards rushing, and 26 total touchdowns in his first season as the starting QB in Gainesville. Florida managed to win six games and reach a bowl game under his guidance.
The Gators faced Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl and lost 30-3. Richardson decided to opt out of the game in order to prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft.
Many people thought that the Colts would end up choosing Kentucky QB Will Levis. Levis was taken by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 33 overall pick on Friday.
Other QBs on the roster in Indianapolis include Gardner Minshew, Nick Foles, and Sam Ehlinger.
The Colts missed the playoffs with a 4-12-1 record in 2022. If Richardson can turn out like Hurts, watch out.
