Anthony Richardson will likely not return to the field any time soon, per Colts’ owner Jim Irsay.

The owner told ESPN’s Stephen Holder on Monday night that Richardson will “probably” miss the rest of the regular season with a shoulder injury. Irsay mentioned that the former Florida Gator will likely undergo surgery in the next week.

Richardson initially injured his shoulder in a win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 5.

Without Richardson, the team will continue to trot out Gardner Minshew, who is considered one of the best backups in the league.

Richardson was enjoying a nice rookie season, collecting 577 passing yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT thus far. The rookie also rushed 25 times for 136 yards and 4 rushing TDs. The rookie was injured in the first half against the Tennessee Titans, but Minshew was able to come in and still secure the win.

This would be a disappointing end to the season for Richardson. The rookie was drafted in the 1st round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and early returns had been promising. Richardson was just the 5th Florida QB to be drafted in the 1st round.
