Avery Helm, a former Florida defensive back who last week visited Missouri, has announced his transfer destination.

Helm is headed back closer to home. A 4-star prospect in the class of 2020 out of Missouri City, Texas, Helm chose the Gators over scholarship offers from 22 other teams, including Texas, Texas A&M, TCU and Arizona.

This time, Helm committed to play at TCU.

Helm redshirted for the 2020 season, and made his debut in the Cotton Bowl, with 1 tackle.

In 2021, he appeared in 11 games (9 starts), and finished with 3 pass breakups and 22 tackles. This past season, Helm made 10 appearances, including 4 starts at cornerback. He recorded 8 tackles and a pass breakup. Helm did not appear in UF’s last 2 regular-season games.

As a high school recruit, Helm was a 4-star recruit and the No. 24 cornerback in the class of 2020 per the 247 Composite rankings.

The former Gator is the Horned Frogs’ first transfer portal addition for the 2023 season.
