Spencer Rattler has emerged as a top quarterback in the SEC this season and has given teams fits on defense.

He’s racked up 1,411 yards and 7 touchdowns through 5 games and he’s not looking to slow down anytime soon.

Billy Napier knows the South Carolina quarterback will be a challenge as Florida takes on the Gamecocks this weekend. On Wednesday, he detailed how Rattler can make South Carolina’s offense dangerous.

“I think Spencer’s improved throughout his career,” Napier said during the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday. “Watched him last year, obviously knew about him in high school, history at Oklahoma, and then for him to I think he’s with his second coordinator here and I think they’ve done a nice job. He played really well as the season went last year. He’s one of the more talented quarterbacks in the country, and they’ve got a good mix of skill that allows him to distribute the ball and they can be very dangerous on offense. So he’s a really good player and certainly that’s part of the challenge when you play South Carolina.”

Rattler has proven to have some explosive moments with South Carolina’s offense this season, but the Gamecocks are still looking to put all the pieces together after facing a 3rd loss of the season against Tennessee a few weeks ago.

Both South Carolina and Florida will be gunning for a big win this weekend, and for Florida it starts with containing the Gamecock offense.

Florida is coming off a dominant win over Vanderbilt and will be hoping to ride the momentum from that game into this weekend.
