Billy Napier provides optimistic update for DJ Lagway after hamstring injury

DJ Lagway had to exit Florida’s loss to Georgia early due to a hamstring injury. The Gators QB had to be carted off the field and had played fairly well before his exit.
Lagway is the 2nd Gators QB to leave a game this season, with Graham Mertz suffering a season-ending injury against Tennessee. The Gators had to turn to Lagway soon after and finished the game against Georgia with freshman QB Aidan Warner.
Despite all this, Billy Napier was fairly optimistic moving forward with Lagway. The Gators reported Monday that Lagway’s injury is less significant than the team feared and that they have not ruled out Lagway for action against Texas this weekend.
DJ Lagway’s hamstring injury is “less significant” than Florida #Gators staff initially feared, according to Billy Napier.
Lagway not ruled out at Texas. (Montrell Johnson wasn’t ruled out vs. Kentucky but missed the last two games, FWIW.)

Lagway, for being a freshman, has been good for the Gators this season. He’s shown flashes of his unique athleticism that the Gators can build on going into next season. So far this year Lagway has totaled 1,071 passing yards with 6 passing touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
Florida travels to face off against Texas this Saturday, with kickoff set for Noon on ABC.
