Billy Napier releases statement on departure of DC Patrick Toney
Billy Napier released a statement on the departure of co-defensive coordinator Patrick Toney on Wednesday.
Toney, who is leaving for a role with the Arizona Cardinals, has coached with Napier for the past 5 seasons dating back to his time at Louisiana.
Here is Napier’s statement:
“We would like to congratulate Patrick Toney on his new challenge & opportunity in the National Football League. PT has been a pivotal part of our success over the last five years. He has set a great example and been a relentless worker and learner. He is a selfless teammate and one of the finest coaches and teachers we have ever been around. We are forever thankful for his contributions to our teams and we wish him and Courtney well as they continue their journey.”

Toney is expected to be replaced by Alabama linebackers coach Austin Armstrong. He joined the Crimson Tide’s staff earlier this offseason after spending the previous 2 years as the defensive coordinator for Southern Miss. Sean Spencer is expected to remain as co-defensive coordinator.
Florida is also losing tight ends coach William Peagler to the Cardinals, according to multiple reports.
I don’t blame college coaches for bolting to the NFL. Between recruiting, transfer portal, snd NIL, it must be exhausting.
” PT has been a pivotal part of our success over the last five years. ”
I’m Confused. I thought Napier was a first year coach????
PS. What success??? LOL
Negan
Why does it feel as if we are falling apart?
Because your mother didn’t raise you correctly and you have a hard time differentiating between things that matter and things that don’t (like college football).
If it doesn’t matter to you why are you here making comments?
Because I like it…not everything I like matters. Kind of like chewing gum…I enjoy it. But it doesn’t matter. Do you understand the difference between enjoying things versus things that matter now ugalakelifeloser?
When you agree with an account that is obviously a fake and a troll it says a lot about you
College football is fun, it’s entertainment, so it’s not worth it to get all worked up about it. There are things in this life that are more important, like family, friends, supporting yourself financially, good health, helping those in need. If college football is causing someone a lot of stress, they should probably take a break from it.
The wise young sage has spoken…100%^

While I agree with this comment. The truth is if Florida were a dominant team in football. Everything and everyone would be on the backburner!!!!!!!
PS. Just the facts! People who aren’t winning often choose the right attitude!!!!!!!!! LOL
Negan
I’m disappointed Napier didn’t mention Toney’s infamous bright brain.
I just wonder, why would Arizona want that loser on their coaching staff? Perhaps, they’ll confirm they’re nuts by drafting AR in April!
I’m surprised they hired him as a mere assistant and not a coordinator given his bright brain. It would almost appear a reduction in responsibilities and a coach who self-assessed he needed to downgrade.
AR to Arizona in the first round. You heard it here first
I think we’re going to see a lot more coaches make the jump to the NFL when they get the chance. The state of college football is evolving and its not a great place for assistant coaches currently.
What is different between the NFL and college these days?
Actually good question.
Always good to see others confirm the value of your coaches.
I’m just here with a bucket of popcorn to read the cute comments from the season long G8r fans who were bashing Toney…where day is?
I think reading gagator’s comments would turn the popcorn in my stomach.
Growing up a UGA fan was brutal from mid 90’s until current administration. This,,, is quality entertainment.
Pass the popcorn Leg
Well pull up a chair and sit a spell, Charles. Plenty of popcorn to share as we watch the gift of the post Urban Meyer karma hire keep on giving…did you see where 3rd coach in 2 days has bailed on Billy? Something about that beautiful crime free Mecca known as Gainesville, what up and coming assistant coach wouldn’t want to raise their family there?
Dang bro you are such a valuable source of Gator inside info. Had to look this one up and lo and behold you are correct. Bringing Gator news to Gator fans before anyone else knows. What a treasure you are.
So another of Napier’s guys is being promoted to the NFL, what a terrible judge of character that Billy Boy is. Must be over his head without a clue.
Thanks for the heads up
BTW I heard you guys will soon be heading to DC to see your main man. Did Negan finally get you a special pass to join the team in their WH visit? Bet you can’t wait to go
So another of Napier’s guys is being promoted to the NFL………….lolololol, that’s a good one palley! Those guys jumped at the chance to bail on Billy and get the hail outta that cesspool called Hogtown, and from what I heard, all 3 of them took paycuts…plus the big kicker selling point, none of them has to drag around Florida 247 trying to convince the top state talent to come to the Swamp only to be rejected, the NFL doesn’t require recruiting in case you haven’t noticed.
On your other point, had Negan been successful in securing my paid trip to our nation’s capitol, as an American citizen I would have considered it a pleasure and honor to meet the president of your and my country…see, I can put silly philosophical differences aside whether we agree or disagree on policy and simply enjoy the honor of meeting such a high ranking government employee, things like that define us as a free country don’t you know. Try to get a meet and greet with Prez Assad. Sad that you would pass if given the opportunity of a lifetime but hey, different strokes for bitter folks.
Humperino so you saying Monkken jumped at the chance to bail from Athenia? Or in your puny head that only applies to Florida? No need to answer, the logic or lack off is obvious. No need to worry about recruiting Florida talent, Napier is doing well and will only get better in that respect.
“simply enjoy the honor of meeting such a high ranking government employee”
Guess you are hoping the good doctor is in a frisky mood like she was at the state of the union but I wouldn’t call an honor to meet her or her hubby. None of the are honorable.
I did enjoy all my trips to DC over the years but that was before crime and homelessness were rampant so again I would pass.
But then again hope you get to go, get a smooch from the doctor, listen to some made up tales from her hubby and do visit both of your blue senators and pledge your support
“I did enjoy all my trips to DC over the years but that was before crime and homelessness were rampant”
What year was that, 1943? DC has been the dark continent of crime and homelessness for 7 decades now, you’re much older than you act…
BTW I hate I missed this response earlier, palley…Monken leaving is no surprise, if you haven’t nooticed, Kirby is surrounding himself with former Dawgs loyal to their alma mater, Monken has a history of 3 and outs. I’m just glad we had him long enough to get the O side of the program in lockstep with the D side. News alert, back to back…other breaking news, assistant coaches bailing off a 6-7 program as fast as they can find another willing suitor…getting that headstart on Billy to their next meaning paycheck…Billy will be joining them soon enough, enjoy the ride, I am…Let’s Go Brandon says HI and to your last point, both of my state senators Graham and Scott are red…thanks for checking tho
Napier hoping to get his buddies into the nfl so he’ll have friends to call for a job after this upcoming season. Toney begging to get out because he knew his days were numbered.
So Napier is a bum and yet he is able to get his buddies in the NFL. Makes tons of sense
You’ll go nuts trying to find the logic in his posts Cojones.
There is no logic in his posts, Emilio, other than logic of the autistic variety (which has little to nothing to do with the pervasive developmental disorder by the same name, but with cause-and-effect relationships and inability and/or unwillingness to abstract other, more salient and proximal aspects of the relationship).
In short, when reactivity is governed exclusively by emotion, this is what you get. I can think of more than a few examples in DC presently that exhibit the same, so in that context while annoying it’s relatively harmless unless gaga runs for elective office.
I still think you are giving too much credit to the current state of American politics
Perhaps, Charlie. This truly the postmodern world in which men of all stripes have been handed over to delusions.
Depraved minds
Hey, when there are no genders, when men can become pregnant by simply wishing it so, and when common decency is bad, you know it’s later than we thought.
… It’s the end of the world as we know it
It’s the end of the world as we know it
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine
Hey, if ZZ Top can set that to music I think it’ll sell a million!
Doc that’s REM.
I’ll come up with some ZZ top for you soon
Hey, I only listen to ZZ Top, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, and John Anderson with an occasional George Jones or Moe Bandy thrown in. If you’ve got ZZ doing any of those, I’m all ears!
(:
