When Florida takes the field for the season opener against Florida Atlantic, Brenton Cox plans to be on the gridiron with his Gator teammates.

That’s the latest from the Florida defender, who underwent offseason surgery and continues to rehab in anticipation for the coming season.

The Gator defender had his surgery in June. Cox was placed in a walking boot this summer but that has already been taken off.

“When we snap up against FAU, I’ll be ready. I’ll be out there,” Cox recently said to Pro Football Focus.

Cox then added this comment as a follow-up.

Last season, Cox started all 12 games for Florida and had 41 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss (which tied for the team lead) and four sacks. He also led Florida defenders with 18 quarterback hurries.

Based on his recent comments, Cox plans on starting all 12 games in 2021, too.
