Charles Montgomery was a Florida commit since May but didn’t sign his NLI during the Early Signing Period.

On Friday, the Tampa Bay-area product announced on Twitter that he would re-open his recruitment and decommit from the Gators program.

Montgomery held the athlete designation but was expected to play wide receiver for the Gators. He was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 14 player in the country to hold that designation and as the No. 38 player in the state of Florida.

Back in April, Montgomery revealed his top finalists were Florida and Maryland. He committed to the Gators on May 24.

It will be interesting to see where the 4-star recruit goes from here. Whatever his final choice is, he wouldn’t be able to sign until the traditional signing period begins on February 3.
