Mike White’s program recently received some great news as the NCAA has cleared Colin Castleton to play immediately next basketball season.

Florida officially announced this news on Friday.

Castleton transferred into Florida via Michigan this offseason and his status for the upcoming season was unclear heading into the fall as the Gators waited to find out if the NCAA was going to grant the big man the option to play for the upcoming season.

According to Florida, Castleton is a native of Deland, Fla., and appeared in 44 games for Michigan before deciding to transfer closer to home. Castleton will have two years of eligibility to play in Gainesville.

The 6-foot-11 forward averaged 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds off the bench for the Wolverines last season.

Castleton played for Father Lopez Catholic in Deland before signing with Michigan out of high school.
