It doesn’t appear Corey Collier will be following in his dad’s footsteps.

If you haven’t been following his recruitment, the four-star defensive back from Miami Palmetto High School is rated as a top 100 overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle, the No. 3 safety prospect and the No. 14 overall player in the state of Florida according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Collier’s father Cornelius Collier played defensive back for Bobby Bowden’s Florida State program two decades ago and while the Seminoles have been actively involved in Corey’s recruitment to date, FSU was the only member of Florida’s Big 3 football programs that didn’t make the cut for one of the nation’s best safety prospects.

On Monday, Collier announced his top 3 consists of Florida, LSU and Miami. That’s a tough blow for Mike Norvell’s program but not a stunning revelation considering where the status of the Seminole program in recent years.

During the spring, before the NCAA shut down college football recruiting, Collier visited Florida, Miami and Auburn.

Collier currently plans on announcing his commitment on Aug. 10 and now we know the program’s that are currently standing out to the top 100 overall prospect.
