With activity on college campuses shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, coaches and players are adjusting to a different kind of learning. In late March, the SEC allowed teams to hold virtual meetings between coaches and players using popular tools like Zoom and FaceTime.

Florida head coach Dan Mullen said coaching virtually has been beneficial in one aspect.

“I can sit and do my work and I can sit in on all the other position meetings we have,” Mullen said in a conversation with UF basketball coach Mike White. “With the number of coaches that we have and the number of players we have, to just sit and get work done but in the background, you’re listening to the tight ends meeting, then the linebacker meeting, so everybody has a little bit different schedule, we’re not all at the exact same time with the individual position groups. Its been really beneficial to see how everybody coaches and watches and listens to their meetings.”

Mullen is presumably at least somewhat familiar with his position coaches’ teaching staff as all his current Florida on-field staff worked with him at some point during his Mississippi State tenure (2009-17).
