Dan Mullen discusses Kyle Trask in context with his former QBs, shares Florida's motivation this week
Florida is looking to move closer to clinching the SEC East as it takes on Kentucky this week, and the Gators are trying to stay motivated.
Coach Dan Mullen shared how the Gators are preparing for the game, and what to expect this week and beyond.
“It’s been solid, we have to keep that going. Our walkthrough has been pretty solid,” Mullen said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “This is their biggest game of the year, coming to play, they know that. If they don’t prepare the right where, there’s going to be trouble. Knowing there is a team coming in here, this could be their season.”
Florida was ranked No. 6 in the initial College Football Playoff ranking which was released on Tuesday.
“I think there’s a lot of football still to be played… there’s another 4 week to be played, a lot of shaking out,” Mullen said.
About Florida’s explosive offense, Mullen said, “You have to have great players that are tough to match up with. You have to have depth, as a coach, it’s our job to as coaches.”
How does Kyle Trask match up with other quarterbacks Mullen has coached?
“He’s right up there statistically, if you look at that,” Mullen said. “Tebow did things differently, how he put up numbers, Alex, Dak, all put up numbers. You can compare them but they are all different. We scheme up to their strengths… they all have a really good level of talent and we put them in position to be successful.”

The QB whisperer, play calling genius, offensive guru hath spoken. Take heed ole humper and maybe you can take some of this timeless wisdom to help the poor, lost and embattled leader of the Athenians
Good to hear practice has been good. Hopefully that first half versus Vandy got their attention and taught them not to show up half-asleep, expecting the other team to just lay down. Kentucky will come expecting to win and playing that way. We better be ready!
It’s a home game with a normally sized home locker room. Kentucky will come in knowing, deep down in their hearts where the truth roams free, that they’re about to get boatraced.
Mullen: he be talk funny.
Kirby should pay attention to what CDM has done in 2 1/2 years. Kirby will be on the way out next year.
I’m sure it must frustrate Georgia fans not having a national championship since 1980. Especially when Daniels started last week and his absence can’t be rationally explained by anyone on the Georgia staff. That should tell you something right there leg humpers
Didn’t you hear the explanation? Kirby and his staff have over 25 years of coaching experience and therefore know what they are doing while everyone else don’t know didley
