While everyone in Gainesville and all fans of the Gators have their eyes focused on the team’s offensive line heading into Florida’s upcoming training camp, Dan Mullen has his eyes focused on another position group.

Despite the team having to break in four new starters up front in the trenches, Mullen needs to see the progress his quarterbacks have made this summer before evaluating anything else.

During his Thursday appearance at Florida’s Media Day event, Mullen was asked which area he wants to see the most progress from coming off a summer in which players work out and train away from the eyes of the coaching staff. While he noted the offensive line will be a key position, the Florida coach said the quarterbacks will be where it starts for him.

“I mean, to me that’s always the biggest one, you know? Is your progress at the quarterback position,” Mullen answered during his press conference, “especially coming back over the summer, because those are the guys that I want to see it developed and put a lot of extra work in over the summer at that position that you know and that gets to the timing of routes, you know so hey but we should be able to go out there I should be able to put a blindfold on you. And, you know, tell you who the receiver is and you can go through the 10-yard outcut type of deal. You know what I mean? That’s how in-tune you are with the with your receivers.”

Considering his reputation as an elite developer of quarterbacks, it’s no surprise to see that’s where everything starts for Mullen.
