Dan Mullen doesn’t have many days off, but when the Florida head football coach does have some rare free time, he enjoys watching soccer.

And he has one clear favorite team in the Champions League — Liverpool.

However, it’s not only a hobby for Mullen, evidently. He also picks up on some things that he can incorporate back at work.

In an interview with Glenn Price of LiverpoolFC.com, Mullen shared how he utilizes some of the things he sees from Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp in his own coaching style with the Gators.

“He’s passionate on the sidelines, he’s fired up, he’s in the games — I love that. I think the players feed off that,” Mullen said in the interview. “I think players are going to take on the personality of the coach, and the coach can take on the personality of the players. When they match, you have a great match.

“The biggest thing that you have to have, to have a successful organization, is alignment. You can’t have one person going in one direction and another going in another.”

It’s apparently helped, as Mullen has gone 14-3 since taking over as Florida’s head coach prior to the start of the 2018 season.

The Gators will look to continue this year’s strong start when they host FCS school Towson on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
