Florida is rolling in Year 3 under coach Dan Mullen.

The Gators defeated Kentucky 34-10 on Saturday afternoon, moving to 7-1 on the season.

Perhaps more remarkably, it moved Mullen’s career record with Florida to 28-6 after 34 career games — one win better than former Florida coaches Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer through the same number of contests.

Florida still has two regular season games remaining plus a potential berth in the SEC Championship Game and bowl season. It’s very possible the Gators end up with their third consecutive double-digit win season. If they pull that off, it’d be the first time UF has done so since Spurrier did it from 1993-98.

The biggest difference between Mullen and the legends of Meyer and Spurrier is obvious — national championships. Meyer won the BCS National Championship Game in his second year in Gainesville. Spurrier won it all, too.

If the Gators win out, they’ll have a chance to get to the College Football Playoff for the first time.

Florida faces Tennessee on the road next weekend.
