Departing Florida DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and FSU commit reignite social media feud

Recruits in high school don’t usually get in feuds with players departing for the NFL Draft, but anything can happen on social media.

Prior to the Peach Bowl, the Florida football team was outfitted with new Jordan Brand shoes. They got the attention of Florida State DE commit Quashon Fuller, a 4-star recruit who did not end his recruitment in the Early Signing Period. Departing Florida DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, who had already declared for the NFL Draft, replied to Fuller’s tweet and a social media feud ensued, with Fuller seeming to call out Gardner-Johnson for not planting the Florida flag on Bobby Bowden Field after UF’s 41-14 win over the Noles in November:

Things cooled down, at least publicly, for a bit. On Thursday, however, Fuller announced he cancelled his visit to Florida and would be heading to Louisville instead:

As of right now, FSU is still the 247Sports’ Crystal Ball favorite to sign Fuller. We shall see if he’s suiting up against the Gators come Nov. 30.
