D.J. Lagway suffered a hamstring injury during the first half of the game against Georgia in Week 10. Initially, the injury looked significant but now appears to be less serious than feared.

The Gators are gearing up for a matchup with No. 5 Texas in Week 11. While a tough matchup no matter who is playing QB, the Gators would love to have their impressive freshman. ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting that Lagway will be listed as a game-time decision for the game.

While that may sound encouraging, Thamel also added that the QB is not expected to “significantly contribute” against Texas.

If Lagway can’t go, Aidan Warner would presumably get the start. Warner came in for Lagway against Georgia and completed 7-of-22 passes for 66 yards and 1 interception. The Gators kept the game close against the Bulldogs initially but went on to lose 34-20.

Lagway has had flashes of brilliance in his 1st collegiate season. The QB has thrown for 1,071 yards with 6 TDs and 5 INTs in 8 games. The former 5-star prospect became the start after veteran Graham Mertz suffered a season-ending injury in a loss to Tennessee.

Entering Week 11, the Gators are 4-4 overall and 2-3 in SEC play. After the Texas matchup, the Gators still have to play LSU, Ole Miss, and Florida State. To become bowl-eligible, the Gators must go at least 2-2 over this tough final stretch.

The Gators and Longhorns will kick off from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium at noon ET.
