ESPN’s Football Power Index has released its projections for the Week 4 slate of college football. This includes the Florida and Charlotte matchup, which the FPI has leaning heavily in Florida’s favor.

Per FPI, the Gators have a 95.3% implied win probability against the 49ers. This means the Gators are heavy favorites, as is to be expected. The Gators are coming off a huge win over the Tennessee Volunteers in Gainesville and will be riding high in Week 4.

The 49ers are coming off a home defeat at the hands of the Georgia State Panthers. The loss moved the Niners to 1-2 on the season, with a win over South Carolina State and losses to Maryland and the aforementioned Georgia State.

The Charlotte defense has been bad this season, allowing 422 yards per game. Charlotte has the No. 94 rush defense, No. 112 pass defense, and No. 110 overall defense. The Gators have the No. 54 rushing offense, No. 63 passing offense, and the No. 51 total offense. Still, the Florida offense should be able to move the ball against Charlotte. This could be the 3rd game in a row in which the Florida offense shows promise, which would be huge ahead of SEC play.

What Florida cannot do, is overlook the 49ers. Riding a high after the Vols game and looking ahead to a road game at Kentucky could spell doom for the Gators in Week 4. The team must avoid a close game against a far-inferior opponent.
