The Florida Gators are fighting for their NCAA Tournament lives against Florida Atlantic on Monday night, but a few Gator players will learn where they’ve been selected in the 2018 MLB Draft during the evening’s action.

One of those players is 3B Jonathan India, who was chosen with the No. 5 overall pick by the Cincinnati Reds.

India was chosen in the 26th round back in 2015, but decided to come back to school, and that decision clearly paid off.

This season, India is hitting .364 with 18 home runs, 45 RBI and 12 steals. At third base, he’ll play an important defensive position as well.

How long it takes him to rise through the Reds’ system remains to be seen, but for now, he’s focused on extending his Florida career as long as possible.
